'He said he wanted to do it, he wanted to be a superhero for his sister' 💚

A mum whose 13-year-old came home from school with "growing pains" was left devastated after the eventual diagnosis turned out to be deadly - but now her little brother is going to save her life.

Debra had rushed her to A&E after dialling 111 when paracetamol didn't work. After X-rays, the pair were told to go home and rest - but Ruby fainted a day later.Heartbreakingly, after another hospital trip and blood tests, Ruby was diagnosed with leukaemia. Her mum, aged 38, told M.E.N: “There was a long wait for an ambulance so her grandma took us back to hospital.

“I had heard of leukaemia, but I had never read up on it. I said, ‘What’s leukaemia? You’ve got the wrong child here’. I just sank. Whatever they said to me wasn’t sinking in. I just couldn’t lose my daughter – cancer is cancer. The big C.” “We sat him down and said, ‘Ruby needs this and you’re a match,’” support worker Debra continued. “He said he wanted to do it, he wanted to be a superhero for his sister. The bone marrow transplant starts on September 22.
