Broadcaster and fashion designer Brendan Courtney lifts the lid on his and Sonya Lennon’s brand new clothing collection, his exciting future on TV and radio and why he feels more content than ever in his career
Brendan Courtney has always been a much loved fashion expert and TV star here in Ireland, but in recent months has become equally as popular as a radio presenter. Brendan took on more work on the airwaves than he expected following Ryan Tubridy ’s shock exit from RTÉ last summer, and was a clear frontrunner to land the coveted Nine O’Clock Show on RTÉ Radio 1.
Not at all, I am absolutely thrilled for Oliver. We were talking to each other after RTÉ made the announcement and I’m really happy with the decision. Oliver is absolutely the right man for the job. Not least because he’s really good, funny and talented, but also he has been there longer than me and covering for way longer than I was. It was right that he got the job and secretly, I’m so happy that it’s a gay who got it! . He’ll be great. Not at all, thankfully.
A lot of people were thrilled to hear your clothes were coming to Kilkenny Design, as there was disappointment when you left Dunnes Stores.
