PGMOL apologise to Brighton for shock VAR decision against Tottenham BHAFC THFC
The incident was waved away by referee Stuart Atwell, and dismissed by VAR official Michael Salisbury, which has now been deemed the incorrect call.talkSPORT understands that Brighton are now seeking clarification from the refereeing body over as many as five controversial decisions during the defeat.
The Seagulls are also not satisfied with the explanation for manager Roberto De Zerbi’s red card for failing to control his bench. Conversations have taken place between Brighton and the PGMOL’s Chief Refereeing Officer Howard Webb, who has privately acknowledged Hojbjerg’s challenge on Mitoma should have resulted in a penalty.
The result was a big blow for Brighton against one of their competitors for European football this season, with De Zerbi’s high-flyers looking on course for continental competition for the first time. The Italian, though, will be fuming once again with a botched refereeing call, and his side have demanded an explanation from the refereeing body.
