It was a warm Sunday evening in 1957 as I boarded the British Overseas Airways Corporation flight destination London, from the airport in Kingston, Jamaica.
The next leg of my flight would be straight to London. However, the adventure took a twist when the aircraft developed a technical fault and had to land in Montreal. It was a bonus, despite the hiccup, as I managed to spend two nights in a warm hotel room with central heating and for the first time in my life seeing hot water run out of the taps. It was luxurious and after two days we were able to continue our journey.
