A British grandmother who has been languishing on death row in Indonesia for 10 years may dodge a firing squad - due to a change in law. Lindsay Sandiford has been held in custody since 2013 after attempting to smuggle £1.6m of cocaine into the country. She was sentenced to death for the crime but a change in law - which is being introduced in January - could see it converted to a life in prison term due to good behaviour. Lawyers could then argue she should be returned to the UK, where she is likely to go free on the basis of time served in Indonesia. Fellow cons at Kerobokan Prison in Bali have revealed her hopes for freedom and shared a picture of her teaching fellow prisoners how to knit. One cellmate revealed the 67-year-old former legal secretary is dubbed the ‘grandmother’ by other inmates. An inmate told the Mirror: "There is hope that she can go home. If she can get through to 2025 then she thinks she may be able to avoid the death penalty." In a further boost, British officials have recently stepped up visits to see her from four times a year to once a month
