Police in Leicestershire said they are working with both Italian authorities and the UK Foreign Office following the death of 66-year-old Michele Faiers.

A man has been arrested in Leicestershire after a British woman was reportedly found dead at her home in Italy. The 74-year-old suspect, who is also British, was detained on Wednesday night in Shepshed in connection with the murder of Michele Faiers, police said. The Leicestershire force did not name the suspect, who remains in custody.

Ms Faiers, 66, was found dead near the town of Casoli on Wednesday morning, according to local media. Detective Inspector David Greenhalgh said: 'We are continuing to work with authorities both in the United Kingdom and Italy regarding this incident. 'Ms Faiers' family have asked for privacy at this time and I would ask that this is respected.' Detectives from the East Midlands special operations unit are in contact with both Italian police and the UK Foreign Office.
