According to officials, she'll be in Russia at least until July 2.
This news comes after a previous extension was announced on May 13 when Alexander Boykov, Griner's lawyer, said the WNBA athlete's pre-trial detention would be another month, according to a report by
."[Boykov] believed the relatively short extension of the detention indicated the case would come to trial soon," per the aforementioned report. But that is clearly no longer the case., based on information a US State Department representative gave the outlet. Previously, Griner did not have a solid classification status from the US government.
