The Broncos announced Monday morning that the Walton-Penner Ownership Group has added Condoleezza Rice as a minority owner.
Presumptive new Broncos owner Rob Walton added another high-profile share-holder Monday by naming former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to the Walton-Penner Ownership Group.
Rice’s connections to Denver date back more than 50 years; she moved with her family to the area in 1967 and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and DU. Her link to the game of football are just as notable; most recently, she served on the inaugural College Football Playoff selection committee. The Walton-Penner Ownership Group is awaiting a date to meet with the NFL’s Finance Committee. If they approve of the bid, the final step is gaining approval from the team owners. It is expected the process will be completed before the Broncos’ Sept. 12 season opener at Seattle.
