Brooklyn 99’s Chelsea Peretti has a funny reaction to being fan-cast in Euphoria. 'nate let's have a chat babe'
Brooklyn Nine-Nine alum Chelsea Peretti responds with humor to being fancast on Euphoria. On the HBO teen drama created by Sam Levinson, the high-schoolers have their voices and so do the adults. Euphoria sees Zendaya as Rue Bennett, wryly narrating the lives of her classmates as she experiences the tremendous highs and crushing lows of drug addiction.
So far, in Euphoria season 2, Rue and Jules have moved on from their interactions with Nate. The jock’s story has shifted to a love triangle involving best friends Cassie and Maddy . While it’s provided plenty of memorable angst, it also continues to place Nate as a leading romantic character despite all of his loathsome tendencies.
It’s worth noting, of course, that Nate is a continuation of a long-running teen drama trend where the bad boy is depicted as desirable. It’s a trope that encompasses Chuck Bass, from the original Gossip Girl, among many others, and it varies in terms of how the individual bad boys are portrayed. But as the continued social media posts make clear, audiences are tiring of the trope and have decided to have a little fun with it by imagining some interesting Euphoria crossovers. .
