Jason Poole, brother of Jennifer who was murdered by her ex-partner in 2021, met with Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan to discuss progress on a domestic violence register, known as 'Jennie's Law'. Jason advocates for the register to prevent future tragedies like his sister's, arguing that it would have allowed her to check Gavin Murphy's history of domestic violence before his fatal attack. Mr. O'Callaghan assured Jason that the domestic violence register is not shelved and meetings will take place to progress its implementation.

The brother of Jennifer Poole, who was killed by her former partner, is to meet with Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan to discuss progress for a domestic violence register.

Jason has been calling on the Government for a number of measures under ‘Jennie’s Law’ to be implemented to help stop the violence against women. However, Jason wants all the relevant bodies to be brought together to listen more attentively as he wants all domestic violence issues - and not just coercive control - to be included on the register which he says needs to be a legislative piece.

In a response to a question from Deputy Cian O’Callaghan who asked An Tanaiste Simon Harris why the creation of a domestic violence register is not a priority for the Government, An Tanaiste said: “I do know that the Minister for Justice is very committed to addressing this very important issue and ensuring there are effective measures in place so the Garda can issue confidential warnings to persons who may be a risk in an intimate relationship.
