Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes committed his future to the club earlier this month by signing a new contract after stressing that he wanted to compete with the very best teams
Bruno Fernandes admits he urged Manchester United 's top brass to get to work in the transfer market prior to signing his new contract with.
Fernandes will continue to play a key role under Erik ten Hag this season - but only after the Portugal international made it clear to Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co that he expects Manchester United to strengthen in order to compete with the very best teams. He went on to stress that he was realistic with his expectations moving forward, particularly given that success is far from guarantee in the Premier League.
"I think the club is doing that. It's trying to bring people in to get more players with quality in the team; to get more competitive, fighting for your place."While United have been criticised for their approach in the transfer market in recent years, the Red Devils have operated in an astute fashion in their first transfer window with Ineos at the helm.
