Matt Araiza drew attention last year as the nation’s top college punter. A lawsuit filed this week accused him of participating in the “gang rape” of a then-17-year-old woman.
The Buffalo Bills released Matt Araiza on Saturday, after a woman alleged in a civil lawsuit that the rookie punter “gang-raped” her as a then 17-year-old minor last year.
The lawsuit, filed in San Diego County Superior Court, alleges that Araiza and two teammates on the San Diego State football team took turns having sex with the woman during a party last October after Araiza threw her on a bed. The suit says she was intoxicated and going “in and out of consciousness” while the incident occurred and that she left the room “bloody and crying.”
