Bundee Aki has renewed his one-year central contract with the IRFU, remaining with Connacht Rugby until the 2025/26 season. Despite interest from French clubs, Aki chose to continue his career in Ireland.

Despite reported interest from France, the Connacht head coach Pete Wilkins had always confidently expressed the belief that the IRFU would exercise their option of a one-year extension on Aki’s existing deal and so it has come to pass. Aki has won three Six Nations titles with Ireland, including two Grand Slams, and in 2023 was nominated for the World Rugby Men’s XVs Player of the Year award.Gerry Thornley: Last weekend crystallised the waning appeal of the Champions CupNow in his 10th season with Connacht since joining from the Chiefs in New Zealand, the Ireland centre has made 142 appearances for the province since his arrival in Galway in 2014.
