Specialist gardai continued digging an area in the Santry Demesne in north Dublin for the remains of Icelandic national Jon Jonsson, right, who vanished in February 2019.
A search in a park for the remains of a missing and feared murdered tourist continued well into yesterday evening after cadaver dogs indicated a discovery.
The dogs are specially trained to indicate the scent of death, but sources said they could also have detected blood. Gardai suspect Mr Jonsson, 41, was killed on the day he vanished in the city five years ago after a meeting he had organised went wrong. But it’s feared the meeting erupted in violence and Mr Jonsson was killed. Gardai decided to hunt for Mr Jonsson’s body after receiving two anonymous letters indicating his remains were in the park.
