Killer moved from prison to hospital just weeks into life sentence
This callous murderer has been taken from his prison cell to a hospital bed – just weeks after being caged for life.
The Irish Prison Service declined to comment last night. An IPS spokeswoman said: “The Irish Prison Service does not comment on individual prisoner cases.” Mr Justice Paul McDermott described it as the "most horrific attack carried out by fire that led to this poor woman's death". During the Covid lockdowns Ms O'Keeffe was able to cut contact with Leonard but CCTV showed that from Christmas 2020 to her death the following February he visited the area around her home 45 times.
On the day of the murder Ms O'Keeffe and Leonard arranged to meet at Doneraile and both travelled separately in their own cars.
