RTÉ continues to be bombarded with complaints from furious members of the public over a series of spending controversies at the public broadcaster.

RTÉ continues to be bombarded with complaints from furious members of the public over a series of spending controversies at the public broadcaster.

A nurse who cared for the intellectually disabled wrote about how she worked twelve and a half hour shifts only to see her “modest earnings” used to help fund RTÉ. There were multiple calls for RTÉ to be disbanded, with the management who caused the problems in the first place having been allowed to walk off “into the sunset”.

Another person wrote about how they had held off paying their licence fee until the last minute but had decided to go ahead based on promises of reform by the broadcaster. One wrote of paying the licence fee “under duress” and asked for a full refund of the €160 they had paid out.“Trying to pay a mortgage, support my family, have a life and hobbies and then having to hand over money to an entity that squandered it on vanity projects and substandard overpaid personalities is galling in the extreme.”
