Human rights groups in Morocco and Spain have called for an investigation after up to 27 people died trying to cross into Spain's North African enclave of Melilla. ameliaajenne reports.
Around 130 people surged through the fence after cutting it with shears and some fell from the barrier separating the two territories. Spain’s prime minister condemned what he called the “violent assault” – blaming “mafias who traffic in human beings”.
