The five-part spinoff of the baking competition kicks off tonight, with a number of famous faces – including Louis Theroux, Ovie Soko, James Blunt, and Richard Dreyfuss – among those battling it out to win the coveted title of Star Baker.
Documentary maker Louis Theroux, comedians Jenny Eclair and Russell Howard, and athlete Ovie Soko are the first set of contestants competing for the Star Baker trophy – and will be challenged to make a giant biscuit, a classic bake, and a choux sculpture depicting their perfect day. “The Great Celebrity Bake Off is a key ingredient in our Stand Up To Cancer recipe,” Sarah Lazenby, head of formats and features at Channel 4, previously said.
“We’ve seen the power of using comedy and entertainment to bring awareness and raise millions of pounds to fund pioneering cancer trials. We hope viewers will enjoy this year’s line-up of famous bakers. There’s never a dough moment as each bring something fresh and exciting to the tent.
