Parker is returning for her 16th WNBA season following speculation over how long she’ll continue playing.Parker, 36, ranked as No. 3 onin 2008, Parker spent the first 13 seasons of her career in Los Angeles. She recorded a near triple-double in her WNBA debut with 34 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. She went on to win WNBA Rookie of the Year and WNBA MVP, becoming the first player to win both in the same season.Throughout her dominant run with L.A.
in 2021 and her impact was immediate, as Chicago won its first league title in franchise history in Parker’s first season.Parker has been one of the most versatile players in the league since she entered the WNBA. The seven-time WNBA All-Star and two-time WNBA champion helped Los Angeles to its third WNBA title in 2016, before surprising fans with a return to her Chicagoland home ahead of the 2021 season.
In her first year with the Sky, she led the team to a WNBA title — the franchise’s first — averaging 13.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.2 blocks per game. In her 15 years in the league, few have figured out how to slow the dynamic forward who has the size to play inside, the range to hit 3s from outside and the vision to run the break on the open floor. —The Las Vegas Aces entered the offseason as the favorites to repeat and win the 2023 WNBA title. And as a new contender threatens to emerge out east in New York, the Aces have retooled, improving on their 2022 roster.
