Manchester United legend Eric Cantona was pictured in front of a Kerry FC jersey at Kerry Airport, leading to an open invitation from the League of Ireland club.
Eric Cantona received an open invitation to visit League of Ireland club Kerry FC after he posed in front of one of their jerseys. Cantona traveled from Kerry Airport on Thursday morning and was photographed in front of two jerseys sponsored by the regional airport, including that of the newest League of Ireland team. The Manchester United legend was in Killarney for an event at the Gleneagle INEC Arena on Wednesday night.
Fans had the opportunity to meet the former France footballer-turned-actor, with some taking home signed jerseys and photos with the superstar. Kerry Airport shared a picture on X of Cantona in front of the shirts, posting: “We were delighted to meet @ManUtd legend Eric Cantona when he was in Kerry Airport today.” Kerry FC promptly responded, tweeting: “Your welcome anytime in Mounthawk Park Eric!” Cantona is a frequent visitor to Ireland. He included Dublin’s Liberty Hall in a tour when he embarked on a new career in music. Before his performance last year, he made a surprise visit to The Celt Bar on Talbot Street. Cantona won four Premier League titles at Manchester United after a surprising move in 1992 from Leeds United. He spent five years at Old Trafford before retiring from football.
