Caoimhin Kelleher, Liverpool’s Ireland goalkeeper, is set to start against Real Madrid in the Champions League due to Alisson’s absence from training. Kelleher, who has yet to concede in his previous two Champions League appearances, is looking to maintain his clean sheet against the Spanish giants.
Alisson is absent from training on Tuesday afternoon ahead of Liverpool ’s huge Champions League tie against Real Madrid - meaning Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher holds onto his starting spot.He has yet to concede in Europe’s top competition, having kept clean sheets in the 1-0 win away to RB Leipzig and the 4-0 win at home to Bayer Leverkusen.
Kelleher’s hopes of making it a hat-trick of blanks have been boosted by the news of Vinicius Jr’s leg injury. He has scored 12 goals in 18 appearances so far this season, including four in four Champions League games. Alisson isn’t Arne Slot’s only injury problem ahead of the visit of Carlo Ancelotti’s side. Trent Alexander-Arnold is struggling, while Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa are also concerns.
Liverpool are hoping to improve their head-to-head record against Madrid, having won just three of their previous 11 meetings, compared to Real’s seven wins.
