A Glasgow councillor is encouraging more families to walk or cycle to school, as he urged drivers to “respect the restrictions” in place.
wanted to build on that success and has already introduced “a suite of integrated transport and other plans to prioritise walking, wheeling and cycling” as “the first and natural choice for everyday journeys”.
It was introduced to improve road safety, reduce harmful emissions and encourage active travel. There are some exemptions which allow vehicles, such as residents, to drive through the area. Council officials worked with Shawlands Primary to provide “an innovative, bike-mounted, remote-controlled device that holds traffic” to let the children in Bike Buses cross in good time.
