Car stolen at Seattle’s Children Hospital just hours after owner’s child had brain surgerySeattle Police are searching for the person who they say stole a car that belongs to a family whose son just underwent brain surgery at the Seattle Children’s Hospital. The car was stolen Friday evening around 8:00 p.m. from one of the parking garages at the hospital.

“I hope that they know that we had my son’s medications in there, we had everything in there,” Cali Fager said. Her son, William, underwent brain surgery Friday morning. “We just happened to be dealing with our 1-year-old going through brain surgery which was terrifying enough and just to take a car from anywhere, let alone a children’s hospital, one of the hospitals that helps so many children, it’s just completely disgusting and horrible.” Her son is doing well after surgery.

“He’s recovering really well. He’s already wanting to get up and dance and clap and he’s doing really well,” she said. “I don’t know who goes to a children’s hospital, especially one of the biggest ones, and steals from a family. They had to have seen our car seat, baby toys and everything and still decided to take our car.” Fager said they had just paid off their car and it was full of baby supplies and her school books and laptop. So now they’re out thousands of dollars.

“While we should be able to focus just on our son, we have to have all of our stuff missing and yeah, the whole thing just sucks,” she said. Despite this cruel act, Fager said she’s grateful for the support they’ve gotten from the hospital and SPD. “His surgeon, Dr. Hoffman, actually said that he would personally drive us home if we don’t have a car by the time we go home,” she said. “The officer, Officer Thompson, he felt so bad that he went and bought a Halloween costume for our son and brought it back. Yeah, it was really sweet of him.”
