Lancers improve to 5-1 with drubbing of Falcons, as QB Julian Sayin throws four TD passes
After an overtime win at Mater Dei Catholic to open the season and narrow wins over El Camino and Mission Hills, the No. 2-ranked Lancers played a near flawless game offensively Friday, scoring all five times they had the ball in the first half and the first time they had the ball in the third quarter en route to a 42-7 Avocado League win over Torrey Pines.Advertisement
Sayin was nearly perfect in the first half, completing 14 of 16 passes for 210 yards and four touchdowns. In the second quarter, Johnson made a fingertip grab of a Sayin bomb, hauling in the ball at the Torrey Pines 23 and keeping his balance before falling into the end zone for a 66-yard completion.Mason Walsh had a pair of 1-yard runs for Carlsbad.
The TD came on a 14-play, 96-yard drive with Jake Sweeney scoring from 13 yards out late in the fourth quarter.
