Hyde Road was blocked off in both directions after the collision
A main road into Manchester city centre was blocked on Thursday evening after a crash, which saw one person rushed to hospital. The incident, which happened on Hyde Road, is thought to have involved a taxi and a large pick-up truck at around 9.30pm.
Ambulances were at the scene, as well as officers from Greater Manchester Police as enquiries were carried out. Dramatic pictures of the scene show the large blue pick-up vehicle, which saw its bonnet visibly crushed in the incident. It was just earlier this month that the M.E.N reported that residents living on Hyde Road , which connects Gorton to the city centre, openly spoke of their fears that it was "too dangerous" to let children play near after a stream of serious accidents.
"I have definitely seen more reckless driving. You can put in all the measures in the world but we need drivers to help us and drive properly and according to the road and conditions." Despite this, it is not clear how this particular incident happened.
