EXCLUSIVE: Briefing notes for the Media Minister Catherine Martin, obtained by the Irish Mirror, suggested she should answer all questions relating to Mr Tubridy by deferring to RTÉ.
Media Minister Catherine Martin was advised to defer questions about Ryan Tubridy and his salary back to RTÉ at the height of the payments scandal.
RTÉ confirmed in late June that Mr Tubridy’s salary had been underdeclared by €345,000 over a five-year period. The document, released to the Irish Mirror, suggested she should answer all questions relating to Mr Tubridy by deferring to RTÉ. If asked her opinion on “special deals for RTÉ presenters”, Minister Martin was advised to say that it would “not be appropriate for me to comment on these matters given the legislative provisions in place”.
The document was prepared hours before RTÉ confirmed on June 23 that former Director General Dee Forbes had been suspended.
