Alhaji Sadiq Ibrahim, Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Bauchi State, has decried the drop in cattle business
According to NAN, Ibrahim disclosed this on Thursday in Bauchi, saying cattle supply has suffered in daily and weekly livestock markets across the state.
He said businesses for cattle breeders have dropped by 70 per cent since introducing the fuel subsidy removal policy.Ibrahim added that due to the prevailing economic hardship, people are more concerned with food for survival than meat. “Buying and selling in cattle markets has dropped drastically by about 70 per cent, and business activities are unlike before.
“Before the removal of the fuel subsidy, if you went to the daily market, you saw nothing less than 30 to 40 cows, but now you hardly see 4 to 5 cows,” he lamented. DAILY POST recalls that Nigerians have readjusted their consumption pattern following fuel subsidy removal in June.
