Cavan host Tyrone in an Ulster Senior Football Championship quarter-final clash this afternoon, with the winners facing Donegal in the last four.
In the meantime, the landscape Ulster football has been rocked by Derry falling to Donegal in Celtic Park last night.Cavan took the scalp of neighbours Monaghan in round one as the Farney failed to recover from losing their top flight status and limped out of the Ulster series following a 3-12 to 1-12 loss in Clones.
Padraig Hampsey had a difficult evening against Conor McManus in horrible conditions in Omagh in round six and didn’t feature in the 21-point loss to Dublin.Derry's reign as Ulster champions was ended in spectacular fashion as they were ambushed in their own backyard by a goal-hungry Donegal side. Paddy McBrearty lost his race to recover from a calf injury picked up in their round seven win over Meath last month and Derry made the better start and were 0-3 to 0-1 ahead with points from Ethan Doherty, Paul Cassidy and Conor Doherty.
Doherty replied with another fine score for Derry and Donegal missed a few chances to add to their tally, but Derry rallied late in the half.
