Darragh Canavan, Mattie Donnelly and Michael McKernan were the pick of the Tyrone players while Padraig Faulkner had another outstanding game for Cavan in an extra-time thriller
Gary O’Rourke: Cavan won 90 per cent of their restarts and there was little O’Rourke could do to stop Liam Gray’s goal from close range. Was called for over-carrying in extra-time under pressure from McShane and Tyrone converted the free. 6.5
Padraig Faulkner: Outstanding against Monaghan, Faulkner delivered another top-class performance against Tyrone. Took his goal well and provided real leadership for Cavan. 8 Oisin Kiernan : Had a difficult task up against the opposing Brian Kennedy and lost his man for Tyrone’s goal and was replaced before half-time. 5
Cian Madden: Took the fight to Tyrone in the first quarter when Cavan were otherwise second-best. Scored 1-1 from play early on, quieter in the second half. 7 Jason McLoughlin: Brought in to try and halt Darragh Canavan’s rampage, but the Tyrone attacker was elusive until going off with cramp. 5.5 Padraig Hampsey: Looked back to his brilliant best and had Lynch’s number until his black card. Controversial as the decision was, he retaliated and pulled Lynch to the ground in full view of the linesman. 7
Niall Devlin: Had a chance to win the game at the end of normal time, but was off target and had options to pass. Made amends with a fine score in extra-time and did well on Gerard Smith. 7 Seanie O’Donnell: Played much of football in attack during the League, but was needed in defence on Sunday. Fared well albeit Tyrone might be better served playing the Trillick ace further up the pitch. 6.5
