Exclusive: Investigators are working to determine if an off-duty garda, who is based in the northwest region, was driving the car involved in the incident at the time of the collision
CCTV footage tracing the movements of a suspect and vehicle in a fatal hit-and-run which left a GAA coach dead will prove vital in the investigation, sources say.
A ‘vehicle of interest’ was later recovered and investigators are working to determine if the garda, who is based in the northwest region, was driving the car at the time of the collision. Mr McEneaney was a highly respected former Louth hurling player who managed Termonfeckin club St Fechin’s to the last two Louth senior hurling championship titles.
“Niall was a former player and coach within the club and up until last year was involved with the coaching of our juvenile teams. We would like to offer our sincere condolences to his wife Grace and his family at this extremely difficult time. RIP.”
