There are a series of social welfare payments and cost of living cash boosts that will be given out before the end of the year - with parents at the centre of several bonuses
This starts with a once-off payment of €400 to people getting the Working Family Payment in the week beginning 20 November 2023.
People must also be employed, pay tax and PRSI in the Irish State. Under EU regulations you may be able to claim the Working Family Payment if your children are living abroad and are dependent on you. If you start getting Child Benefit for the first time for a baby, it will be paid at the start of the month after the birth of the child.
You do not get an IQC if your child is getting a social welfare payment or Supplementary Welfare Allowance in their own right . However if you are getting an IQC during the summer holiday period between academic years and your child becomes entitled to a social welfare payment in their own right you will continue to get the IQC and your child's payment is reduced by the amount of the IQC.
