Screens were erected around Think About It whose fans were already posting tributes only for him to get back up on his feet and walk back to the stables
A champion racehorse has made a ‘miraculous’ recovery after collapsing in the middle of a big race and feared to have died.
On this year’s Everest card at Randwick in Sydney on Saturday, he was contesting the 18-runner Group 3 Sydney Stakes when he suddenly fell back through the field and collapsed to the turf. Among postings from fans on X were comments like “What a gut punch with Think About It. A super horse. Sure I'm not the only one feeling completely winded seeing that.”The screens were erected round six-year-old for privacy while vets attended to the horse, but eventually Think About It rose to his feet and was led back to the stables to the relief of the 50,000 crowd and TV viewers.
“Miraculously though, after a significant pulmonary haemorrhage, our great horse bravely stood to his feet and soon after was walking back to his stall, once again showing how tough he is.“It goes without saying that he owes us nothing and his welfare is priority right now. Thank you to all the vets for their swift action and thank you for all the messages of support.”
