Ballyhale Shamrocks, only founded in 1972, enjoyed huge success in Kilkenny and beyond from 1978-1991, but that was eclipsed by the TJ Reid generation over the past couple of decades.

When the Kilkenny SHC semi-finals take place later next month, there will be a notable absentee from the line-up.
