The man who was behind the hit movie which won the best picture Oscar in 1982 died in hospital in London on Friday
Freelance reporter and late editorChariots of Fire director Hugh Hudson has died at the age of 86, a statement on behalf of his family said.
“He was best known for directing the Oscar winning film Chariots Of Fire. He is survived by his wife Maryam, his son Thomas and his first wife Sue.” Veteran stage and screen actor Nigel Havers, who played Lord Andrew Lindsay in the critically-acclaimed film, said: “I am beyond devastated that my great friend Hugh Hudson, who I have known for more than 45 years, has died.
After leaving Eton, he began national service in the Dragoon Guards, and remained in the Army reserve of Officers until being discharged in 1960.
