Forecast: Light snow today, but warmer conditions mid-week

National Weather Service officials called for light snow Monday for areas in northern Illinois and northwest Indiana ranging from a coating to two inches, but warmer days are ahead, with temperatures possibly reaching 53 degrees Thursday. Monday’s early conditions caused an alert from weather officials warning of slick patches on snow-covered roadways. Officials cautioned the wind chills were still below zero and encouraged commuters to still bundle up.But in the forecast was a sliver of hope as midweek temperatures could rise to 40 degrees Wednesday with southwest winds at 15 mph and possible gust as high as 25 mph.Advertisement
Thursday the forecast calls for about 53 degrees with a chance of rain after 7 p.m. and a low around 41 degrees. As of 7:50 a.m. Monday, temperatures at Midway were at 17 degrees with a wind chill of 8 degrees below zero.
