The schoolboy, 12, had been walking on Hyndford Road in Lanark, South Lanarkshire, when he was struck by the vehicle

at 2pm today. Medics raced to the scene and on arrival, the child was found injured.

He was blue-lighted to University Hospital Wishaw, where his current condition is unknown. The road was closed for over three hours to allow a police investigation to take place.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At 2pm on Thursday, January 19, officers were called to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car on Hyndford Road, Lanark. The pedestrian, a 12-year-old boy, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Wishaw.
