Revealed: The cost of Preston Guild Hall standing empty and the path to re-openingEight of Chorley’s parks and open spaces have been awarded the coveted Green Flag Award, a welcome increase from last years six parks.
Councillor Adrian Lowe, Executive Member of Chorley Council, said, “Once again we have proved in Chorley that we have some of the absolute best parks and open spaces in the country.” The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the standard for their management across the UK and worldwide.
Aside from the beautiful parks, there are also an array of events being held on them. Astley Park will play host to the annual Chorley Flower Show, July 26th – 28th. On August 2nd, ‘Theatre In The Park’ will return to the borough with ‘The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck’ by Quantum Theatre and on September 7th, ‘Last Night of the Proms’ with Outreach Opera will be held, filling the park with music.Sign up below to receive Blog Preston's email newsletter.
