Brand new apartments set for Chorley

Plans submitted to Chorley Borough Council would see the flats built on a vacant plot of land directly next to the Rose and Crown pub. The site, on the corner of Dole Lane and St Thomas's Road, is situated opposite Chorley's police station and its former magistrates court building.

It has previously been used as a car park but Bamber Bridge-based property firm Bare Capital Ltd wants to use as a space for 24 flats. The land was previously listed for sale by estate agents Peter E Gilkes & Co who discussed the possibility of residential use.If approved, the development will feature 17 one-bedroom apartments and seven with two-beds. There would also be parking spaces for 17 vehicles as well as a drop off/loading area and space for 32 bicycles.

The application states: "The building entrance is located on Dole Lane with a vehicular drop off and loading area close to the entrance. A splayed panel of brickwork to the right hand side of the entrance guides the eye towards the doorway. Post boxes are located within the entrance lobby. "Off the entrance lobby is a cycle store for 24 cycles, lobbied access to the bin store and a plant room. Circulation within the building is simple and direct with apartments served by a centrally positioned lift, stair and communal corridor."
