Captain America star Chris Evans' mother responds to his new People's "Sexiest Man Alive" title. The actor has been on a career high these past few years with his now iconic portrayal of the Marvel comic book hero. Since Evans' retirement from the MCU after Avengers: Endgame, Evans has enjoyed even more exposure with big projects such as Disney and Pixar's Lightyear and, most recently, Netflix's The Gray Man.
People has been conducting its competitive "Sexiest Man Alive" list since the 1980s, with former winners including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Richard Gere, and Sean Connery, among many other male superstars. Heavy hitters Clooney have received the honor multiple times throughout their illustrious careers. Evans is now joining the ranks of Hollywood veterans with twenty years in the industry, going back to an early appearance in Not Another Teen Movie back in 2001.
Chris Evans' Mom Has Always Been Supportive Of Him This isn't the first time Lisa Evans has spoken out in support of her son. At the end of Avengers: Endgame, when Evans donned makeup and prosthetics as an older version of his character, the sight of him brought Lisa Evans to tears. She stated that he reminded her of her father, Chris' grandfather.
The People Magazine honor may be a good luck charm. Former "Sexiest Man Alive" winners including Idris Elba have enjoyed tremendous longevity, with heavy hitters Clooney and Pitt established as Hollywood royalty. While the title is clearly bestowed based on looks, it seems to recognize a certain level of overall success as well.
