Speaking exclusively to Mirror Sport , Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner responded to speculation claiming that he is not a fan of one of the stars hoping to earn a place under his wing
Christian Horner rubbished talk that he is not a fan of Yuki Tsunoda – but challenged the Japanese racer to prove himself if he wants a Red Bull seat.
But he still has plenty more to prove if he is to have a chance of earning a promotion to the top team in the future. Ricciardo has also made it clear that he wants to return to the seat he vacated five years ago and which is now filled by the struggling Sergio Perez, while junior driver Liam Lawson has lofty ambitions after a successful first few races in F1.
He said: "Yuki is a very quick driver and we've seen him evolve over the last three years. He now goes into his fourth season as a junior driver and what you have to remember is that Red Bull Racing's only interest in AlphaTauri is as a potential springboard into a Red Bull Racing seat. "We get a bird's-eye view of what he's doing for our sister team – Max came out of Toro Rosso, the same with Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Daniil Kvyat, Alex Albon, Pierre Gasly... that's what it has been there for, as a pipeline to produce potential drivers for Red Bull Racing."
