Christian politicians are asked questions that those of other faiths aren’t
The Lib Dems have been accused of breaking equality laws after David Campanale was allegedly deselected due to his Christian faith
His opponents claim that he has been linked with the Christian People’s Alliance, which is opposed to abortion and same-sex marriage. Campanale says he left the CPA more than 12 years ago and that the campaign against him was more an attempt to secularise the party.
At a 2018 prayer breakfast, Forbes said the treatment of the unborn was a “measure of true progress” and was one of 15 SNP politicians who signed a letter asking the Scottish government to delay reform of the Gender Recognition Act. It’s also the case that Christian politicians are asked questions not asked of those of other faiths, and that’s unfair and cowardly. But the questions are less about religion – I’ve yet to hear someone challenged over the divinity of Christ or the nature of the Trinity – and more about Christianity’s apparent moral positions.
