The Newtownards woman revealed how she later conquered her fear of the water

Christine Lampard has told how she nearly drowned as child and was only saved thanks to the quick actions of her dad.

I think it comes from my mum, [she] hates water as well... So we were never big swimmers.

"I nearly drowned when I was about seven or eight. I remember dad literally pulling me out of the swimming pool, and I remember that feeling. "So I was never a fan of it. And then I randomly agreed to get involved with a big Sport Relief task, quite a few years ago now, and I water-skiied the Channel.She added: "They told me if I fell more than three or four times I'd be physically exhausted, that I wouldn't have the energy to continue. And I fell, it must have been seven or eight times.."We raised a lot of money.
