Christmas day lands on a Sunday this year 🎄

Most of us love a bank holiday and Christmas Day for many is one of the best. But this year December 25 will not be a bank holiday - because it is a Sunday.

When Christmas Day is on a weekend the day off we enjoy gets moved. And with boxing Day, also a bank holiday, falling on the Monday it means people will get Tuesday, December 27 off instead of December 25, reports the Liverpool Echo. However not everyone will get the time off. Employers do not have to give you paid leave on a bank or public holiday.

Bank holidays can also affect how and when your benefits are paid. Many benefits are paid early to ensure people have the money ahead of the date it is due. This year, the Christmas Day bank holiday will be observed on December 27. The New Year's Day bank holiday will not be held on January 1, but rather January 2. However remember neither Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve are bank holidays.Tuesday, December 27 - Christmas Day Monday, May 1 For more stories from where you live, visit InYourArea
