Almost half of Britons plan to travel to visit friends or family over the festive period, research shows, as people enjoy their first Christmas getaway in two years.
And rail companies have warned of disruption to some services due to high staff absence and strike action.But this year there are no restrictions on gatherings, although people are being urged to take care, particularly around vulnerable people. However, it said the rush was smaller than usual, in part because more people were working from home.
