Christy's daughter Kiera, who is also a singer, admitted it’s easier to tour around the UK with her music because nobody knows her
Singer Kiera Dignam has admitted it can sometimes be a “hindrance” being the daughter of the late Christy Dignam as she announces a tribute night to the Aslan star.
His only daughter Kiera is also a singer but said that despite the recognition by her music peers, it can sometimes be a “hindrance” having a famous father and admitted it’s easier to tour around the UK with her music because nobody knows her. “The UK allowed that because there’s less begrudgers to be honest. It’s lovely. You get some great support in Ireland, and some are my dad’s fans. Some aren’t necessarily, but you're kind of already judged and you’re already criticised before I even open my mouth.
“Although a lot of people think Dignam will give you the leg up, it can be a hindrance sometimes because people prejudge you or they already have an idea of you. You’ve to take everything with a pinch of salt because at the end of the day, these are strangers with opinions of me and they don’t know who I am as a person, so you have to shrug it off.
