Irish singer Cian Ducrot opens up about his unforgettable Grammy Award win and the amazing after-party he shared with Bruno Mars.
Irish singer Cian Ducrot has shared details about his incredible after-party experience with Bruno Mars following his first Grammy Award win. The 27-year-old Cork native was honored with the prestigious Best R&B Song award at the 2025 ceremony in Los Angeles for his co-writing contribution to SZA 's chart-topping track, ' Saturn '. Speaking to Cork's 96FM Opinion Line with PJ Coogan, a visibly elated Cian expressed his overwhelming emotions after receiving the Grammy. 'Absolutely unreal.
I'm so overwhelmed. I'm just having the best, having the best day ever. Just like it's unreal,' he exclaimed. 'I mean, it's like the best thing. It's just the dream. It's what every songwriter strives for and works for. And it's like, yeah, I just can't believe it to be honest. It's absolutely insane.'Cian revealed that winning a Grammy for 'Saturn' was an 'mind-blowing' experience. 'I mean, having the nomination was already enough for me,' he confided in the Cork radio station. 'So to have actually won a Grammy is mind blowing.' The singer described his celebratory evening, which included attending Bruno Mars' exclusive after-party. 'We were very lucky to have been invited to Bruno's after-party where he performed with his band like all night, and it was unbelievable,' Cian shared. 'Just like all a lot of classics and covers and fun songs and people were just dancing, and it was an amazing event. And there were only like 100 people there. 'It was really crazy to be there. And I just got to celebrate with my friends and my girlfriend and other friends that were there and just take it in. You know, it's not every day you win a Grammy. I was like, if I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it in style and sing along to Bruno. And yeah, it was absolutely mad. It was such an incredible day and evening.'Ducrot shared insights into the songwriting process for 'Saturn', explaining that he was contacted via Instagram by SZA. 'It was actually SZA who invited me out to LA to work with her and it just kind of fell out in the room, basically,' he recounted. 'I mean, SZA like gets on the microphone and start improvising. And then, you know, I just kind of played my role and helped where I could and gave ideas and gave ideas of melodies and background melodies and lyrics and tried to just facilitate her writing and what she wanted to do with the song and sort of what she was singing about. And I think the instrumental, which was made by the incredible other Grammy award winners, which were Carter and Scott and Jarrett and Rob, obviously already set this magical kind of sound and this tone. And I think that was probably what inspired the whole world of where the song would go and what it would be about. It already has this magic from the moment the song starts. But it was just, it was a wild thing. I mean, the song premiered for the first time at the Grammys last year as a Mastercard advert. So to be a full, like full circle moment a year later receiving a Grammy for the song is just insane.' Cian expressed that winning a Grammy was a life-changing event, surpassing any lottery win. 'This is the lottery of life.'
