Cian Lynch takes over as Limerick hurling captain for the upcoming season, replacing Declan Hannon . The 29-year-old Lynch has big shoes to fill after Hannon led the Treaty County to five All-Ireland titles during his captaincy. While 32-year-old Hannon has faced numerous injuries in recent years, he still aims to play for Limerick this season. Hannon passes the captaincy to two-time Hurler of the Year Lynch , who will be joined by William O'Donoghue as his vice-captain.
Lynch is familiar with the role, having led Limerick to the All-Ireland title in 2023 when Hannon was injured.A statement from Limerick GAA expressed their best wishes to both Lynch and O'Donoghue, thanking Hannon for his exceptional leadership over the past seven seasons since his appointment in 2017.
