Cian Mcphillips, who set an Irish record in the final of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, is now primed for his first 800m outing since Tokyo when he lines up at the FBK Games in Hengelo. His coach Joe Ryan is confident everything is now back on track, and McPhillips will be looking to go all the way to the World Athletics Ultimate Championships in September.
Ireland's Cian Mcphillips endured a series of setbacks, including a dental issue, a knee injury, and a delayed start to his outdoor season, but is now primed for his first 800m outing since Tokyo.
McPhillips finished 2025 as the top-ranked European over 800m and set an Irish record in the final of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. He also appeared in excellent form when winning his first indoor race over 600m in Boston. His coach Joe Ryan is confident everything is now back on track, and McPhillips will be looking to go all the way to the World Athletics Ultimate Championships in September
