Ciara Mageean narrowly missed out on a medal at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest
Ciara Mageean sent a message to the young people of Ireland after narrowly missing out on a medal at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Speaking after the race, Mageean got emotional as she was told how much of an inspiration she is to youngsters up and down the island of Ireland.Reacting to that comment, the 31-year-old said: "Thank you very much. You're going to make me cry." "I'm so privileged to be in a position that they may look up to me a little bit so thank you so much."
She added after the final: "To be disappointed with fourth in the world is probably a good thing, but I came into this championship with an aim, knowing that I had a chance to medal, probably feeling the best I've ever felt going into a championship.
