Nottingham City Council has granted planning permission for a raft of changes and improvements to be made at the Be At One cocktail bar Nottingham city centre
A Nottingham bar will be closed while refurbishment work is carried out to improve its seating and make it easier to hold cocktail-making lessons. Nottingham City Council has granted planning permission for a raft of changes and improvements to be made at the Be At One cocktail bar in Nottingham city centre, which occupies part of the historic Imperial Building on Victoria Street.
The Stonegate Group, a bar and pub chain that also owns the Slug & Lettuce and Popworld brands, can start to carry out work to install a new bar section and service area, as well as refreshed seating, toilets and overall decor. The new small bar counter will be used for mixologist "master classes", planning documents explained.
The group previously explained proposals were aimed at "updating of Be At One brand". The new fittings will use a mix of oak, mild steel, toughened and laminated glass and decorative glazed tiles to give the bar a new look. The outside of the bar and its windows will be repainted and a new sign will also be put up to attract passersby. A city council planning official approved the proposal on June 18, concluding the works would protect the basement of the Grade-II listed building.
"The proposal is intended to refurbish and repaint sections of the building which would allow for its preservation. The materials and paint colour used would be similar to the existing building, and the internal illumination would be of a subsequent change." The council officer explained the alterations will not significantly harm the building. Be At One Nottingham has said it is currently closed for the revamp, but has not confirmed when it will reopen.
